It Gets the Iron Out … All the Iron Out

Iron can occur in three forms in your water: ferrous or clear water iron – the iron is dissolved in the water; ferric or red water iron – tiny iron particles are suspended in the water; and bacterial iron – often appears as a black, stringy mass in your toilet water tank. Iron water can be identified by yellow, orange or brown “rust” stains on your laundry, sinks, tubs and toilets. It can also give water a bad taste and odor.

Duroclean IF is used in conjunction with a pump and pressure system. A controlled amount of air is added to the water as it enters the pressure tank. This raises the water’s oxygen content, enabling the dissolved iron to precipitate when it comes in contact with the special media in the filter.

The iron is trapped throughout the media bed, not just on the top of the bed as in conventional iron filters. This gives Duroclean IF an iron removal capacity four times greater than a conventional filter.

Periodically, the iron has to be flushed from the filter bed. This is accomplished by backwashing which lasts between ten and twelve minutes and occurs every four to twelve days, depending on your water’s condition.
