Durosoft TM is ideal for residential applications requiring an uninterrupted supply of soft water. It is also ideal to meet unusually high soft water demands and extreme hardness conditions.

Durosoft TM consists of four major components: two identical mineral tanks containing ion exchange resin to soften hard water – one in “service” and the other in “reserve”; a brine tank which produces a measured amount of salt water brine for each regeneration cycle; and a meter initiated composite control valve which governs the operation of the system.

Durosoft TM contains a bed of ion exchange resin beads. As water passes through the bed, calcium and magnesium, the hardness minerals, are removed and held by the resin. Eventually, the resin beads become saturated with hardness minerals and must be regenerated. The control valve meter is set to the volume of water one mineral tank can soften before its capacity is exhausted. When the pre-set volume is reached, the control valve diverts the incoming water supply from the “service” tank to the “reserve” tank and soft water service is maintained while the exhausted tank is regenerated. A brine solution is drawn into the resin bed to release the accumulated minerals. The minerals and brine are rinsed away with fresh water and the regenerated resin is ready to soften water again.
